What we found
A closed kitchen of about 8 m² opened up to the hallway: the old tiling and the crown-moulded wall units went, replaced by a solid wood worktop, under-cabinet lighting and a wooden bar in the new opening that works as a table without taking up floor.

- 01The wall opened towards the hallway, with the lintel resolved before anything else was touched
- 02Tiling and granite worktop removed; walls painted rather than tiled
- 03New base and wall units in matt white with a slim handle
- 04A solid wood worktop, carried through onto the bar in the opening
- 05Induction hob and an oven built into a low unit
- 06An LED strip under the wall units, so the worktop is lit without shadows
- 07The same wood flooring running through kitchen, hallway and living room
